October finds us enjoying the brisk and drier air as well as a few spots of rain here and there. Every creature great and small is thankful for having broken the August/September heat though we must give credit where credit is due - the heat was not so remarkable as it was a year ago. Mid-90's instead of low to mid 100's makes a big difference in the attitude. We’re hoping that improvement presages a trend toward normality in both temperature and more importantly, rainfall. We are still extremely short of the latter. Pay no attention to what is happening in Houston — the farm climate is different as the ground rises from 50 feet above sea level in Houston to 400 feet at Jolie Vue.
