Remember that we decided to take a chance on an expanded winter pasture program this year? We were hoping to give our beeves and porkers a rest from so much hay over the last three years. Cattle especially greatly prefer grazing green stuff. So this would be good not only for their bodies but their minds as well. Quite an investment of limited resources that could have been spent on sure-fire hay, but it would pay off so long as the animals could graze, let it rest, and repeat that cycle all the way through spring. The only thing that could stop the economies of the long graze and re-graze season would be persistent freezing temperatures. Hmmm.
