Season Your Skillet Before You Cook

This is especially true if you use the venerable cast iron skillet or dutch oven but applies in all cases. Start your skillet with sliced onions sauteed in a blend of oil and butter. When the onion starts to brown, have smashed garlic at the ready (garlic is one of nature’s medicines and is said to be at its best after it has been smashed for 5 minutes before cooking). Toss in the garlic and when it begins to give off its wonderful fragrance, remove the onion and garlic from the skillet and add your ground meat, steak or chop. When you flip the meat, put the vegetables back on top. Whoo hoo!
