Babysitting the Orchard

We lost our peach blossoms to a late ice and wind storm last year and so had no peaches when we normally harvest about 2,500. So when cold Arctic blasts came through in back to back weeks, I prepared for weather war. I attached my garden hose and spray nozzle to an exterior hot water line and sprayed the trees down with warm water every 45 minutes throughout the freeze periods.

The peach blossoms looked healthy as we moved into warmer weather so I think they were saved. Time will tell, but even if we go down, we can say we went down fighting!
