Malnutrition and Diet

I was reading of a food project in Africa recently. The customary diet for the children was corn, rice and beans, but the children were and always had been stunted in their growth. So the World Health Organization had an enriched peanut butter concocted and made available as a supplement to the children’s diet. Made no difference at all. The opinion of the nutritionist overseeing the program? “We need meat, eggs and milk to make these children healthy.”

Don’t be fooled by claims that children can get what they need on something other than a diet that includes meat and dairy.
